Our Story - A Message
from the Owners
Karen and I started in hospitality over 20 years ago. We continue to enjoy the wonderful adventure that our guests provide us. The energy of celebration and travel surrounds us and permeates every room here at the Prairie Guest House in Fishers, Indiana.
In 2012, we moved to the Prairie Guest House, inspired by the farm-like setting, the wonderfully spacious guest suites and dining room. When we arrived at this enchanting country inn near Indianapolis, we weren’t sure if we found the property, or if it found us.
We are the third owners of this property as a bed and breakfast. The brick portion of the Guest House was built in 1852 as a gothic-style farm house for Fabius Finch, one of the county’s first attorneys.
We have excelled at hospitality for several reasons; support from incredible people here on staff, our families and community, being provided a beautiful setting from which to host, and our true love for people and their stories. We are thankful for all of our past guests and look forward to many more smiling faces at our door.

Karen
Karen is the muse for the Prairie Guest House. Her house plants sing when she enters the room. The pillows stand at attention, and the mirrors all become shinier. Her attention to detail not only when managing operations but within every room's decor, is appreciated by all our guests. If you feel comfortable within our walls it’s because of Karen.
John
Always ready with a smile, John keeps the energy light and fun. He manages a lot of things that you will take for granted here at the Prairie Guest House. Like the plumbing, electricity, grounds, and landscaping. His breakfasts are world-renowned and appreciated by even the most discerning guest.
Amber
If you email, call, write a letter, or send us smoke signals, Amber will respond with grace, patience, and great care. She is a rock star communicator, and we all appreciate her attention to detail. Amber also organizes all of your event details. So if you’re planning a shower, retreat, reunion, or small getaway, she has all the answers.
Angelica
When you stop in either for an overnight or to attend an event, you will notice how clean everything is. Everything has been touched by Angelica. Her tireless energy and ability to keep things in showroom shape does not get overlooked by anyone. She also helps with some of our special events.
Kyrsten and Sherri
Not only are they a mother/daughter team of cleaning professionals, but they share the same wonderful smile and bring fun to everything they do. Multi-talented and enthusiastic, they are essential to our housekeeping success.
Our Beloved Fiona
Fiona, our cherished cat, plays an integral role in our hosting team. She resides in the Main House and with her undeniable charm and grace, she has captured the hearts of our guests, often becoming the topic of conversation. While we prioritize cleanliness to minimize any potential impact on allergies, Fiona’s presence adds an extra layer of warmth and comfort to our establishment, ensuring that every visitor feels at home during their stay.
